Howard Taylor

Howard is no stranger to bringing out the best in musical performances, and has been involved in many CD productions as both producer and editor.

Howard Taylor started his musical career as a cornet player in the Salvation Army in the South West of England. He led Bodmin Town Band, as Musical Director, to be South West Champions and Cornish Champions 3 years in succession, during the early 90’s. Howard also toured as Musical Director with several different brass bands on concert tours of Holland, Luxemburg, Germany and Sweden.

His appointment to Musical Director of Waitakere Band saw him take them to become the New Zealand National Champion Band in 1999. During Howard’s leadership Waitakere were also awarded the “NZ Band of the Year” in 1999, 2000 and 2001. Howard led the band on tours to Hong Kong and Australia, and was responsible for co-ordinating and producing 3 CD’s with the band.

2002 saw Howard move to Brisbane where he was appointed Musical Director of Brisbane Excelsior. Since being in charge he has seen the band win the Queensland Championships in 2002, 2003, & 2005, the NSW Championship 2003, and the 2005 and 2006 Australian Championship. Howard was also instrumental in Brisbane Excelsior touring to Hong Kong in February 2005, and has produced 2 CD’s with this band.

Howard has led three Queensland Youth Bands, 2002-2004, on tours throughout Queensland and produced CD’s with these groups.

Starting a 2nd band "Windsor Brass" in 2003, Howard led them to their first Contest success in D Grade and the band has since been regraded to C Grade and then to B Grade all within the space of 6 months.

Howard was conductor of the NZ All Star band for the 2006 CD recording Poles Apart, MD of the 2006 Tasmanian Jubilee Brass, and was appointed Conductor of the National Band of New Zealand 2007 - 2009.

Brad Hosking

Brad started his musical career at the tender age of 6 on the piano. The following year, under the guidance of his dad, he started playing baritone and hasn’t looked back. Brad has twice been Queensland Junior Champion of Champion, Australian Junior Euphonium Champion, Queensland Open Baritone Champion and has been a member of the 2005 and 2006 Australian A Grade Brass Band Champions, Brisbane Excelsior Band.

In 2004, Brad completed a Bachelor of Popular Music at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music majoring in Sound Production and has since worked on a number of projects including the 2005 Queensland Youth Brass Band Concert in Maryborough, Brisbane Excelsior’s CD’s – “Australian’s in Song” and “The Champions”, Trombone Chamber Quartet – “Bones in the Belfry” and has also recorded, produced and performed on a number of other bands recordings including Kajacosmic, Anersha, David Gillespie and Subject to Change.

Brad currently works as a Producer and Creative Writer for an International Jingles Company, London Music Group, and also plays keys in The Dan Carroll Band.
